Michigan State QB Connor Cook healthy but Alabama remains heavy favorite

Cook feels good, but MSU still heavy dogs

Michigan State will be a heavy underdog to beat Alabama on New Year’s Eve but at least the health of the Spartans’ starting quarterback is improving.

Connor Cook, who injured his throwing shoulder when he was driven to the turf in a win over Maryland on November 14, says that he feels “really good” ahead of MSU’s date with Alabama in the Cotton Bowl.

“The last two days of practice I’ve felt really good,” Cook said. “[It’s] the best I’ve felt since the injury.”

Cook and MSU will have to deal with one of the best front seven’s in football when it takes on Alabama in two weeks. The Crimson Tide is outstanding both against the run and can generate a pass rush after making its opponents one-dimensional. The Spartans will certainly have their work cut out for them offensively.

Oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI have tabbed the Spartans as a 9.5-point underdog versus the Tide on New Year’s Eve. The line is actually down from 10, which is where the number has been over the last couple of weeks. The spread opened at 8.5, but was immediately bet up within 24 hours.

Kickoff for the Cotton Bowl is set for 8:00PM ET.
