Michigan vs. Indiana Prediction

No. 23 Michigan will look to rebound off an ugly home loss to in-state rival Michigan State when it visits No. 13 Indiana today at 12:00 p.m. ET. Will the Wolverines not only bounce back but also cover as road chalk this afternoon?

Michigan Wolverines Game Notes

Michigan redshirt sophomore QB Joe Milton completed 32-of-51 passes for 300 yards and rushed for 59 yards on 12 carries in Saturday’s 27-24 loss to Michigan State. Milton (6’5/245) produced a total yardage number higher than what he was responsible for in Michigan’s season-opening win at Minnesota, but he failed to register a touchdown pass. The redshirt sophomore should only get better as the season progresses, and it isn’t as if he had a bad day against Michigan State. But the lack of explosive players from the Michigan offense is a bit concerning given the fact that the Wolverines will face even tougher competition later this season. Next up for Milton and company is a matchup with Indiana next weekend.

Indiana Hoosiers Game Notes

Indiana redshirt sophomore QB Michael Penix Jr. completed 17-of-26 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-21 victory over Rutgers this Saturday. Penix Jr. (6’3/202) handled business today, throwing for three touchdowns while also rushing six times for 20 yards and a score on the ground. He spread the production around to his three favorite targets evenly, as Whop Philyor caught multiple deep balls and tight end Peyton Hendershot handled the red-zone work catching two scores in short yardage situations. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows however, as Indiana only converted two third-down opportunities and posted a modest 345 total yards on the day. Still, the Hoosiers open their season 2-0 heading into next Saturday’s matchup against Michigan.

Michigan vs. Indiana Betting Prediction

The road team is 3-0-1 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while the Hoosiers are just 2-9-1 at the betting window in their last 12 games when listed as a home dog. Michigan, meanwhile, is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games when favored, with the one loss coming last week at home as massive home chalk in an outright loss to MSU. The Wolverines are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games and have covered in five of their last seven conference matchups. While I faded Michigan State in its game versus Iowa after upsetting Michigan last week, I’m hopping back on board with the Wolverines in a major bounce back spot.
