Michigan vs. Iowa Odds & Prediction
Number 4 Michigan heads to Iowa City to take on their conference rival Iowa at 12:00 PM ET on Saturday. Can the Wolverines cover the double-digit spread as road favorites and solve the Hawkeyes’ defense?
Michigan is 4-0 on the season, with wins over Colorado State, Hawaii, UConn, and Maryland. They didn’t cover against the Terps last week, winning 34-27 in a game they were favored in by 17. The Wolverines are 2-2 ATS on the season.
Iowa is 3-1 with wins over South Dakota State, Nevada, and Rutgers already on the year. They lost at home to Iowa State in week 2 by a score of 10-7. The Hawkeyes are 2-2 ATS on the year.

Michigan Game Notes
Michigan running back Blake Corum broke out in a big way last weekend as he carried the ball 30 times for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns. He’ll have to have another big game if the Wolverines are going to move the ball on Iowa’s defense, which is first in the country in points allowed per game (5.8) and 3rd in the country in opponent yards per play (3.7) Corum has shown he can produce against the Hawkeyes as last year he ran for 74 yards and a touchdown against them on only 5 carries. How well he runs will determine whether Michigan wins and covers this game.
Iowa Game Notes
Both Michigan and Iowa are in the top 5 in the country in passer rating allowed. A big reason for the Hawkeyes’ success against the pass has been their pass rush. They have 12 sacks through 4 games which ranks them 23rd in the country out of 131 FBS teams. Iowa’s defensive front is led by sophomore defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness who already has 3 sacks on the campaign. If he can rush the passer and leading tackler and linebacker Jack Campbell can sufficiently plug running lanes, the Hawkeyes will have a shot at covering this game.

Michigan vs. Iowa Betting Prediction
These two teams played each other in the Big Ten Championship Game last December, and Michigan bludgeoned Iowa 42-3. But this is a new year and a new Michigan team. Several players from that Wolverines squad have moved on to the NFL. Michigan running back Blake Corum gashed Maryland last week at a clip of 8.1 yards per carry. He’s going to have a tougher time finding openings this week. If you want to play the total, I’d suggest the under (42), as I think this game will be a defensive slugfest. As such, I think the Hawkeyes can keep it close enough to cover the spread as home underdogs.
