Michigan sophomore RB Hassan Haskins was the highest graded running back on Pro Football Focus for his Week 10 performance against Indiana. Haskins (6’1″/220) enjoyed a big day on the ground last Saturday against Indiana, partly due to freshman running back Blake Corum exiting in the first quarter (leg). Haskins rushed for a season-high 168 yards while tying a season-high of 27 carries set previously in Week 2 against Washington. Haskins’ performance earned him a PFF.com grade of 80.0 on the week, and has rushed 165 times for 829 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Corum is no lock to play this weekend against Penn State, which means Haskins could be in for another big day on Saturday.
Penn State Nittany Lions Game Notes
Penn State redshirt senior QB Sean Clifford completed 27-of-47 passes for 363 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Penn State’s 31-14 win over Maryland. In something of an inverse of last week’s game against OSU, despite the gaudy stat-line Clifford (6’2″/219) was not great against Maryland. Wide receiver Jahan Dotson’s superior route running left him unbelievably wide open time and time again, and that includes on all three of Clifford’s touchdowns. No QB could’ve missed Dotson on those plays pretty much, yet Clifford nearly did on the first one, underthrowing Dotson who had to comeback for it and making him take an unnecessary hit when he was five yards clear of any defenders in the end zone. He missed on quite a few throws and threw some hospitable balls as well. Overall though, Clifford didn’t make any horrible plays either, and had some decent movement in the pocket against a Maryland D-Line that was getting fast pressure on a number of drop backs. Clifford also didn’t get much help from the run game. His overall play was worse than the OSU game, but he also avoided the two critical mistakes that gave the Buckeyes the win, and this one ended in a fairly comfortable win for Penn State. Clifford will need to marry the two performances as they take on Michigan next Saturday.
Michigan vs. Penn State Week 11 Betting Prediction
The over is 6-0 in the last six meetings between these two teams at Happy Valley and has cashed in five of the last six meetings between these two teams overall. The over is also 6-0 in the Wolverines’ last six games as a road favorite, is 23-9 in their last 32 road games and is 37-18 in their last 55 conference games. The over is also 8-3-1 in the Nittany Lions’ last 12 games as a home dog.
