Michigan on win streak
The Wolverines moved to 5-1 on the season last week with a 42-21 win over Maryland. Michigan is now 3-0 in the Big Ten, 3-3 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total. They have won five straight overall and are 3-1 ATS at home.
Michigan has been led by its defense, which is allowing just 15.8 points and 230.5 yards per game. The Wolverines have a run defense that is giving up just 96.5 yards per game. On offense, Michigan is putting up 38.2 points and 420.7 yards per game. Karan Higdon has rushed for 582 yards and five touchdowns to lead the offense. Michigan is hoping to add Chris Evans back in the backfield this week. He has missed the last few games with a leg strain but is expected to return tonight. Shea Patterson has thrown for 1,187 yards and 10 touchdowns this year at quarterback.
Wisconsin struggling to cover
Wisconsin has bounced back nicely from its loss to BYU weeks ago, beating Iowa and Nebraska in its last two games to move to 4-1 on the season. The Badgers are 2-0 in the Big Ten and 3-2 with the over, but just 1-4 against the spread. Their lone cover actually did come on the road.
The Badgers are led by their defense, which is holding opponents to just 16.4 points and 349.8 yards per game. On offense, Wisconsin is averaging 33.8 points and 480.2 yards per contest. Johnathan Taylor continues to be one of the leading rushers in the country with 849 yards and eight touchdowns. Alex Hornibrook has thrown for 963 yards and seven touchdowns with two interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Michigan
The Wolverines are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, but just 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a winning team.
Wisconsin
Wisconsin is 13-3 against the spread in its last 16 road games and 5-2 ATS in its last seven Big Ten games.
Prediction:
Michigan has been great at home, but Wisconsin has been a tough matchup for the Wolverines. The Badgers have covered in four straight against the Wolverines and I think Wisconsin is a team that provides a lot of physicality up front, which is what Michigan has struggled with under Harbaugh. Michigan likes to pride itself on returning to its black-and-blue style of football, but struggles with those very teams. While the Badgers aren’t overwhelming on offense, I think their defense will give Michigan a lot of trouble and make this game challenging for the Wolverines. Michigan may win, but I like the Badgers to cover.
