According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Northern Illinois and Toledo are the co-favorites to win, as each has odds of +325 to prevail. Other short odds to win are Bowling Green (+425) and Western Michigan (+475).

Northern Illinois has won the MAC four times and is the defending champion of the conference. NIU was 7-1 in the MAC and 11-3 last season, but the Huskies have a tough West division to get through this year.

Toledo dominated the MAC for some time, winning 10 conference titles, but the Rockets last title came in 2004. The Rockets were 7-1 in the MAC last year and 9-4 overall. Toledo’s lone conference loss was to NIU, so it lost the tiebreaker to play in the title game.

Bowling Green is an 11-time MAC champion, with the last title coming in 2013. The Falcons were 5-3 in the MAC last season and 8-6 overall, which was good enough to win the MAC East. The MAC East should be much easier to win than the West this year.

Western Michigan hasn’t won the MAC since 1988 and its last division title was in 2000. The Broncos were 6-2 in the MAC last season and 8-5 overall. They have a bright young coach in P.J. Fleck that seems to have the team on the rise.
