Minnesota Golden Gophers Game Notes
Minnesota redshirt junior RB Mohamed Ibrahim carried the ball 26 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns while catching four passes for 17 yards in Saturday’s 49-24 loss to Michigan. Ibrahim was as good as you can expect of any back facing a solid Michigan defense. Though he never pulled off a monster run that broke the game open, Ibrahim was a more consistent means of offense than the passing game was. Seeing as Ibrahim was playing second-fiddle through the back half of last season, a top-end opening performance like this is a good sign for what he should be able to give the Gophers in 2020. His four receptions also lend to the idea that he can be a quality pass-catcher, even if Michigan’s defense did a good job in this game to rally and tackle early.
Maryland Terps Game Notes
Maryland sophomore QB Taulia Tagovailoa will remain the team’s starting quarterback for this weekend’s game against Minnesota, says HC Mike Locksley. Maryland were undecided on their starting QB headed into last week’s debut against Northwestern. Considering Tagovailoa, who has named the starter not long before kickoff, threw three interceptions and failed to hit 100 yards, it was fair to question whether he would remain the starter. Locksley put that question to bed, though, and said Tagovailoa will remain the starter, at least for this week. Locksley insisted Tagovailoa has the potential to play better than he did against Northwestern and expects him to do so this weekend.
