MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – It’s been a breakout season for both No. 7 Mississippi State and No. 12 Georgia Tech. Now each looks to cap it off with a win in the 2014 Orange Bowl tonight at 8PM ET.

Georgia Tech ended up as the ACC runner-up this season following a 37-35 loss to Florida State in the title game. The Yellow Jackets closed the regular season by winning five straight to go 10-3 on the season and 6-2 in the ACC. The Jackets were 9-4 against the spread on the season and they have covered in their last six games.

Mississippi State has lost two of its last three games to end the season at 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the SEC. The Bulldogs lost to Alabama and rival Ole Miss in those two contests. Mississippi State was 7-5 against the spread for the season but it went just 2-4 ATS in its last six games. The Bulldogs hit the under in their last three games as well.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Mississippi State is favored in this contest, as the Bulldogs are getting odds of -7 points against Georgia Tech tonight. The over/under total for the game has been set at 61.5 points (View Matchup). These two met in 2009 and 2008, with Georgia Tech winning and covering in both games.

Both teams have a strong offense they are bringing to the field, as Mississippi State posts over 500 yards per game while Tech averages 468.8 yards per contest. The key for the Bulldogs to win will be to contain Tech’s run game, which ranks third nationally with 333.6 yards per game on the ground. The Jackets run game is led by quarterback Justin Thomas, who has rushed for 965 yards and five scores while throwing for 1,594 yards and 17 scores.
