As for the total, the number hit the board at 53.5 but has been bet up two full points to 55.5 at the majority of online sports books.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Texas A&M. Bettors are taking the home dog in this matchup, betting the Aggies at a 69% clip. Texas A&M is 5-2 on the year and 5-1-1 against the spread, so the Aggies have been good to bettors. That said, Mississippi State is 5-2 straight up and 5-2 at the betting window.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The under. The under is 4-1 in the Bulldogs’ last five games overall, is 5-2 in their last seven games played in the month of October, and is 5-1 in their last six games coming off a win by more than 20 points. On the other side, the under is 6-2 in the Aggies’ last eight home games and is 9-2 in their last six games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
WHO WE LIKE: Mississippi State. I’m backing Nick Fitzgerald in this one. He’s looked great in the Bulldogs’ last two games and will be a handful for A&M, although the Aggies have a fierce pass rush. Fitzgerald accounted for 391 yards in last year’s series win for Mississippi State, which has the edge at quarterback with A&M starting true freshman Kellen Mond. The Bulldogs have struggled on the road this year but I like them to win their first SEC game outside of Starkville.
