Mountain West Championship Free Pick
At 7:30PM ET tonight Air Force will take on San Diego State in the Mountain West Championship Game and bettors should be able to cash on the underdogs.
It’s somewhat surprising to see a team that plays as fundamentally sound as Air Force is being handed nearly a touchdown in a championship game. But that’s exactly the scenario tonight, as the Aztecs are 6.5-point favorites for tonight’s game according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag.
I don’t know what happened last week in Air Force’s loss to New Mexico. The un defense got torched for 377 yards and six touchdowns as the Falcons were handing out big plays like flyers on the Vegas strip. But for most of the season, Air Force has been great getting off the field and producing stops on third down. Last week was an abbreation.
The Falcons have racked up 200 yards or more on the ground in every game this season but one (a win over Army). They can control the clock, control the flow of a game, and they’re a difficult assignment for opponents throughout the week because of their triple option attack. San Diego State’s defense is excellent but it’s hard to simulate Air Force’s offense in practice.
Taking nothing away from San Diego and it’s outstanding front seven, but I see plenty of value in taking Air Force with the points. The line seems a tad inflated based on what transpired a week ago.
