Are the suddenly explosive Boston College Eagles a good underdog play for bettors when they face the N.C. State Wolfpack Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. ET?

THE PUBLIC LIKES: N.C. State. As of Saturday morning, the Wolfpack are receiving just over 60% of the tickets in this matchup.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: Boston College. The home team has covered in nine of the last 12 meetings between these two teams while the Wolfpack are just 1-5 against the number in their last six trips to Boston College. The under is also 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams.
WHO WE LIKE: Boston College. I don’t like this spot for N.C. State. The Wolfpack are coming off emotionally, effort-draining games against Notre Dame (on the road) and Clemson (last week at home) and are now out of the ACC championship race.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are on a tear at the betting window. They’re 6-0 against the spread, covering by an average margin of 20 points per game and would become bowl eligible with a victory today. Boston College has also given N.C. State fits over the years, winning three of the last four meetings between these two teams outright.
If you’re still not convinced: The Eagles have the No. 1 ranked pass efficiency defense and are ranked 38th overall. This isn’t a bad team that is merely playing well for a stretch. This is a team that boasts an excellent defense and an offense loaded with freshman talent that doesn’t know it’s not supposed to be this good. They’re also well-rested coming off the bye and I can’t drive home this point enough: This is an emotional letdown for the Wolfpack. I think BC wins outright but I’ll hedge by taking the points.
