Bama favored in Iron Bowl
As the current national championship favorites, can No. 2 Alabama avoid a letdown when it hits the road for the Iron Bowl against Auburn today?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Alabama is the clear favorite on the road in this game, as the Crimson Tide are getting odds of -14.5 points against the Tigers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 48.5 points. These two will meet today at 3:30PM ET on CBS.
Alabama punches its ticket to the SEC Championship with a win today, but the Tide have bigger things on their mind, mainly winning a national title. Oddsmakers currently have the Tide as a +140 favorite to win the playoffs. Bama is 10-1 on the season, 6-1 in the SEC and 6-5 against the spread. They have won eight straight games since a loss to Ole Miss and they bring the best player into today’s game in running back Derrick Henry, who has run for 1,526 yards and 21 touchdowns. Henry is also the Heisman favorite with odds of -140 to win currently.
Henry should provide plenty of problems for Auburn, as the Tigers come in with the 81st-ranked rushing defense in the country, allowing 180.9 yards per game. The struggles of the defense is a big reason why the Tigers find themselves just 6-5 on the season, 2-5 in the SEC and 3-8 against the spread. Auburn has played the Tide tough the last two seasons, but those Auburn teams seemed to be much more talented than this one.
