Navy in a funk
The Midshipmen have dropped four straight following a 49-36 loss to Houston this past weekend. Navy is now 2-5 overall, 1-6 against the spread and 4-3 with the over. The Midshipmen have hit the over in three of their last five.
Navy is struggling on defense this year, allowing 34.3 points and 419.7 yards per contest. Offensively, the Fighting Irish are putting up 29.1 points and 388.4 yards per game. They have one of the top rushing attacks in the nation behind their triple-option. Navy averages 310.1 yards per game on the ground. Malcolm Perry has rushed for 729 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the team while seven others have rushed for over 100 yards.
Notre Dame coming off bye
The Fighting Irish are coming off a 19-14 win over Pitt two weeks ago in their worst showing of the season. Still, ND is 7-0 on the year, 4-3 against the spread and 4-3 with the under. The Irish have hit the over in three of their last four.
Notre Dame is playing very well on both sides of the ball this year. The Irish defense is giving up just 18.7 points and 340.9 yards per game. Offensively, Notre Dame is putting up 32.6 points and 427.7 yards per contest. Ian Book has played well at quarterback, throwing for 1,151 yards and 11 touchdowns with just three interceptions. College Football Betting Trends
Navy
Navy has hit the under in nine of its last 11 at a neutral site and in five straight against Independent opponents.
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish are 5-1 with the under in their last six following a failed cover and 7-3 with the under in their last 10 on a neutral site.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under the last two years, but Notre Dame has a much better offense this year. Navy has been struggling to stop lesser offenses like Houston, Air Force and SMU. I would expect the Irish to move the ball just fine tonight and score a fair amount of points. The ND defense will be the key in the total. The Irish see this option offense enough where it shouldn’t have any nuance effect. The ND defense has been very strong this year and I think they will hold Navy down enough to hit the under.
