Northwestern is 3-6 on the season, 1-2 on the road and 3-6 against the spread. Notre Dame is 7-2 overall, 5-0 at home and 5-4 against the spread. The road team has won three of the last four between these two.

According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Notre Dame is favored at home, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -17.5 points against Northwestern. The over/under total for the game has been set at 48.5 points (View Matchup). The opening odds had Notre Dame favored by 16.5 points. The spread then quickly climbed to 17.5 points. The over/under total opened at 49 points and then quickly fell to 48.5.

Notre Dame is coming off a 55-31 loss at Arizona State last week. The Irish have now lost two of their last three games to fall out of playoff contention. In last week’s loss, the Irish had five turnovers on offense despite racking up 487 yards. Defensively, ASU was able to amass 412 total yards, including 188 rushing yards. Everett Golson finished 22 of 41 passing for 446 yards in the loss, but had four interceptions. As a team, the Irish were held to just 41 rushing yards against ASU.

Northwestern is coming off a 10-9 loss to Michigan at home last week. The Wildcats lost the game on a failed two-point conversion they elected to try instead of going for the tie and playing for overtime at home. Northwestern is averaging just 18 points per game on offense, which ranks 122nd nationally. The defense is holding opponents to 22.3 points per game. Trevor Siemian has thrown for 1,837 yards and five touchdowns this year, but also has eight interceptions. Justin Jackson has added 761 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

In terms of Injuries, Notre Dame safety Austin Collinsworth (shoulder) and cornerback Cody Riggs (foot) are both questionable. Northwestern running back Stephen Buckley and cornerback Keith Watkins II are both questionable with undisclosed injuries.
