Nevada Wolf Pack Game Notes
Nevada redshirt sophomore QB Carson Strong completed 22-of-39 passes for 354 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in Saturday’s 37-26 win over Fresno State. Strong (6’4/220) had a perfectly stupid, volatile, and wacky late-night MWC performance. He has a cannon for an arm and was not afraid to use it against the Bulldogs, for better or worse. It did run him into some turnover troubles, but more often than not, he was able to complete tough windows over the middle and down the field to give the Nevada the chunk plays it needed to keep on chugging. Seeing as he got zero help from the run game or offensive line all night, it’s quite impressive Strong was still able to find five touchdowns. Nevada are now 6-1 with a game against undefeated San Jose State up next.
San Jose State Spartans Game Notes
San Jose State senior QB Nick Starkel completed just 11-of-23 passes for 167 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in Saturday’s 35-24 win over Hawaii. Starkel had far from his best performance in this one. Though normally good for a stable, high efficiency game, Starkel (6’3/214) struggled a bit to complete some of the short and intermediate passes he normally hits. Nevertheless, Starkel connected on a number of passes down the field that helped give the Spartans the edge in this one. Starkel will need to bring a bit more next week against Nevada if SJSU want to be able to finish the regular season undefeated.
