Nevada ends skid
Nevada snapped a 2-game losing streak last weekend with a 40-22 win at Hawaii. The Wolf Pack are now 4-4 overall, 2-2 in the Mountain West, 4-4 against the spread and 5-3 with the under. Nevada has covered the spread in three of its last four games.
The Wolf Pack are allowing 32.1 points and 401.8 yards per game on defense this season. Offensively, Nevada is averaging 32.6 points and 431.9 yards per contest. Ty Gangi has thrown for 1,883 yards and 14 touchdowns this year, but also has seven interceptions. He also has run for 129 yards. Toa Taua is the team’s leading rusher with 575 yards and five touchdowns, while McLane Mannix has caught 33 passes for 616 yards and six touchdowns.
San Diego State rolling along
The San Diego State football team has been rolling, winning six straight games following a 16-13 win over San Jose State at home last weekend. The Aztecs are now 6-1 overall, 3-0 in the Mountain West, 2-5 against the spread and 6-1 with the under. SDSU has covered in just one of its last four games.
Defensively, San Diego State is holding opponents to just 18.4 points and 306.9 yards per game. The Aztecs run defense is giving up just 83.6 yards per game. Offensively, SDSU is putting up 20.7 points and 334.1 yards per game. It’s led highly buy its rushing attack. Juwan Washington has rushed for 513 yards and five scores while Chase Jasmin has 460 rushing yards and four scores. Washington broke his collarbone and is out for multiple weeks while Jasmin is dealing with a concussion and is questionable for this game. Quarterback Ryan Agnew has thrown for 876 yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Nevada
Nevada has covered the spread in six of its last eight at home and in four of its last five conference games.
San Diego State
San Diego State has covered the spread in six of its last eight on the road and in 14 of its last 17 on fieldturf.
Prediction:
Nevada has played pretty competitively at home this year, getting narrowly defeated by Boise State while earning a win over Oregon State. San Diego State is winning, but not covering. The injuries are piling up for the Aztecs and it has to be catching up to them. This will be a tough game for SDSU to pull out with its leading rushers. Nevada has a formidable offense to deal with, especially on its home turf. While its defense is subpar, I think it will show improved play against a depleted San Diego State offense.
