Ohio State 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – The Ohio State Buckeyes were among the favorites to win the 2012 BCS National Championship last winter. But, things have changed for the national power.
An offseason of scandal led to the dismissal of 10-year coach, Jim Tressel, along with senior quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Luke Fickell now has taken over as head coach and will have to deal with the mess that is suspended players and lost recruits.
According to oddsmakers, Ohio State has been given odds of 20/1 to win the BCS National Championship despite the off-the-field issues. The Buckeyes also have odds of 5/1 to win the Big Ten Conference and 5/2 odds to win the Leaders Division.

Ohio State does have some returning stars, including Dan Herron at running back, but he is one of a handful of players that has to sit out the first five games of the season. The big question for Ohio State is who will be quarterback. It appears that freshman Braxton Miller and senior Joe Bauserman are competing for the position. On defense, the Buckeyes have just four starters back from a dominant group that allowed just 14.3 points and 262 yards per game.
Ohio State has won seven national championships in program history and 37 conference titles. The Buckeyes are technically not 2010 Big Ten champs, but they did share the title with Wisconsin and Michigan State before having to vacate the title due to the NCAA investigation on improper benefits to its players. Ohio State has won at least 10 games in the last six seasons, but this year it could be tough. Ohio State will head to Miami and host Colorado in non-conference play. Big Ten play sees Ohio State hosting Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Penn State while heading to Michigan and Nebraska.
Against the spread, Ohio State was 10-2-1 last season and is 75-49-2 against the spread over the last 10 seasons. The Buckeyes were a perfect 9-0 against the spread at home last season. For the over/under, Ohio State hit the over in 7 of 13 lined games, including 6 of their 9 games at home.
