New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay: Bulldogs, Tar Heels & Rockets

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame Ohio State vs. Notre Dame

Will backup quarterback Gunner Stockton lead Georgia to victory tonight against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoffs? Will North Carolina pull off a small upset against Louisville in ACC play? Read on for our New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay prediction.

Tuesday Cross-Sport Parlay

My Tuesday Cross-Sport Parlay consisted of the LSU Tigers (+3.5) over Baylor in the teams’ bowl matchup, the Notre Dame-Georgia Tech over 143.5 in college hoops, the over 5.5 in the Blues-Blackhawks Winter Classic matchup from Wrigley Field and the Clippers (+4.5) versus the Spurs.

LSU beat Baylor outright and the Blues and Blackhawks combined for a whopping eight goals in Chicago. While the ND-Georgia Tech over cashed, the Clippers were hammered by the Spurs 122-86 in San Antonio. So while my picks went 3-1, we fell one leg short of cashing the cross-sport parlay.

New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay Prediction: North Carolina +1.5, 6:00 p.m. ET

The Tar Heels will visit ACC foe Louisville tonight after Ian Jackson went off for 26 points in UNC’s 97-81 win over Campbell. The Cardinals are just 5-3 in home games this season and will face a Tar Heels squad that is averaging 83.9 points per game over their last 10 contests. I think Louisville will take a lead into halftime but UNC will rev up its offense in the final 20 minutes to either pull off the outright upset, or keep the game within the narrow spread.

New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay: Los Angeles Kings -111, 6:10 p.m. ET

The Kings have been nearly unbeatable on home ice this season. Their overall record of 21-10-5 is impressive, but their 12-2-1 record on home ice leads me to backing Los Angeles this evening. The Kings have gone 19-0-2 in games that they score three or more goals. With Allen projected to start tonight for the Devils, I don’t see the Kings falling short of that 3-goal mark.

New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay Prediction: Houston Rockets -5.5, 8:10 p.m. ET

The Rockets will host a Dallas team tonight that won’t have Luka Doncic (left calf strain). For as good as Kyrie Irving has been for the Mavs, he won’t be able to carry them in certain matchups. I think one of those matchups will be tonight in Houston. The Rockets are an impressive 19-13 at the betting window this season.

New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay: Georgia Bulldogs -110, 8:45 p.m. ET

Notre Dame was impressive against Indiana. That said, the Fighting Irish won’t benefit from dominating the trenches tonight like they did when they played the Hoosiers. Indiana doesn’t have Georgia’s talent up front. Texas A&M is the closest thing Notre Dame faced to Georgia’s talent along both lines and while the Irish won, the game was tight throughout.

Plus, let’s revisit that win over Indiana, shall we? While Notre Dame was dominant defensively, what did the Irish do on offense outside of Jeremiyah Love’s 98-yard touchdown run? Quite frankly, I didn’t think Notre Dame’s offense was very impressive.

I’m certainly not overlooking the fact that Gunner Stockton will be making the biggest start of his life against a nasty Notre Dame defense. This won’t be easy and I think the game will be tight and tense throughout. However, teams like Georgia know how to turn it up a notch. And when it comes to the coaching, I’ll back Kirby Smart in a big game. He doesn’t win them all, but I know we’ll get UGA’s best.

4-Leg Cross Sport Parlay: +1222 (Fanduel Sportsbook)
