Indiana surprising many
Indiana is coming off a 38-31 win at Nebraska last week for a third straight victory. The Hoosiers are now just 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in the Big Ten, 5-3 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total.
The Hoosiers have put up pretty good numbers on both sides of the ball. Indiana is averaging 34 points and 451.1 yards per game on offense this year while the defense is allowing 22.1 points and 324.5 yards per contest on defense. Michael Penix Jr. has thrown for 1,232 yards and 10 touchdowns, but is questionable to play this evening due to an upper body injury. Peyton Ramsey has thrown for 1,194 yards and eight touchdowns in his place. Whop Philyor is the leading receiver on the team with 57 catches for 737 yards and three touchdowns while Stevie Scott III is the leading rusher with 621 yards and seven touchdowns.
Wildcats in a freefall
Northwestern is coming off a 20-0 loss at home to Iowa last weekend for a fifth straight loss for the Wildcats. Northwestern is just 1-6 overall, 0-5 in the Big Ten, 2-5 against the spread and 5-2 with the under.
The Wildcats have one of the worst offenses in the nation, averaging just 10.7 points and 266.6 yards per game. The defense isn’t too bad, allowing just 24.4 points and 340.3 yards per game. The team has had QB issues, but Hunter Johnson is expected to return to action this week after dealing with a family issue. Johnson has thrown for 367 yards and a TD, but also has four interceptions. Drake Anderson is the team’s leading rusher with 436 yards and three touchdowns while JJ Jefferson has 12 receptions for 155 yards and two scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Indiana
The Hoosiers have hit the under in four of their last five home games, but have hit the over in four straight following a win.
Northwestern
The Wildcats are 5-1 with the under in their last six games on fieldturf and 8-3 with the under in their last 11 conference games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three of their last five meetings and I think it can hit tonight as well. Northwestern is known for being a defensive team, but the defense has been a big of a letdown. The Wildcats have given up 52 to Ohio State and 31 to Michigan State. It has actually played better on the road, but this Indiana team has come some fire. They have scored at least 31 in five straight games and at least 34 in their last three. The Indiana defense isn’t a juggernaut, so Northwestern should be able to find about 10 points along the way to push the over to hit.
