Public Betting Trends
According to the latest oddsmakers, Wisconsin is the clear favorite in this game, as the Badgers are getting odds of -24 points against Northwestern. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 45 points. The public betting currently has 61 percent going on Wisconsin as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Wisconsin looking impressive
Wisconsin continues to look impressive, as the Badgers are coming off a 35-14 win at home over Michigan. The Badgers are now 3-0 on the season, 1-0 in the Big Ten, 3-0 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.
The Badgers are dominant on both sides of the ball. The offense is putting up 48.3 points and 507 yards per game while the defense is allowing just 4.7 points and 171.3 yards per contest. Jonathan Taylor is leading the offense with 440 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, but he is listed as questionable right now with an undisclosed injury. Quarterback Jack Coan has thrown for 692 yards and five touchdowns while Quintez Cephus has 11 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns. The defense is being led by Zach Baun, who has 13 tackles with three sacks.
Northwestern fall flat at home
The Northwestern Wildcats were beat up at home last weekend by Michigan State. They suffered a 31-10 loss in their Big Ten opener to fall to 1-2 on the year. The Wildcats are 0-3 against the spread and 2-1 with the under.
Northwestern is struggling on offense, but has a respectable defense. The Wildcats are giving up just 20.7 points and 344 yards per game this year. On offense, Northwestern is only averaging 15.7 points and 305.3 yards per contest. Hunter Johnson has struggled at QB, throwing for 308 yards and one touchdown with four interceptions. Drake Anderson is leading the offense with 237 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Wisconsin
The Badgers are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games following a win, but they have covered in four straight overall.
Northwestern
The Wildcats are 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 games on fieldturf and 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 conference games.
Prediction:
The Taylor injury is a concern, as he certainly is the motor behind Wisconsin’s offense. However, the Wisconsin defense is still going to be dominant, especially against a Northwestern offense that hasn’t been able to score more than 14 points in a game. Wisconsin may be able to get another shutout today. With the defense rolling, the Wisconsin offense won’t need many points to cover. Even without Taylor, I think the Badgers will still put together multiple touchdown drives and handle the spread.
