Stanford having a disastrous 2019
The Stanford football team is riding a three-game losing streak heading into this game after a 24-20 loss at home to Cal last weekend. The Cardinal are now just 4-7 on the season, 3-8 against the spread and 7-4 with the over.
Stanford has struggled on offense all season, scoring just 21.5 points and 365.1 yards per game. Defensively, the Cardinal are giving up 28.5 points and 428.9 yards per contest. Davis Mills has thrown for 1,677 yards and nine touchdowns with five interceptions this year. Cameron Scarlett is the leading rusher with 797 yards and six touchdowns while Michael Wilson is the top receiver with 46 catches for 576 yards and four scores. Casey Toohill has been leading the defense with 54 tackles with eight sacks.
Irish looking for a 10th win
Notre Dame is riding a four-game winning streak coming into Saturday’s game following a 40-7 win over Boston College last weekend. The Irish are 9-2 on the season, 7-4 against the spread and 7-4 with the under.
The Irish are one of the stronger defensive teams in the nation this year, allowing 18.2 points and 319.4 yards per game. Offensively, Notre Dame is putting up 36.4 points and 430.1 yards per outing. Ian Book has been leading the way with 2,532 passing yards and 29 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Tony Jones Jr. is the team’s leading rusher with 672 yards and five scores, while Book has added 487 on the ground with four scores. Stanford
The Cardinal are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games on grass and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss.
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games following a win and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games on grass.
Prediction:
Stanford has actually won three of the last four in this series, but this is a very different Stanford team. The Cardinal have been a mess this year and haven’t been able to find their identity throughout the year. Any time they have played a respectable offense, they have found themselves losing by double figures. Notre Dame has been rolling on offense right now, putting up at least 38 in three straight. I think the Irish should be able to go to Stanford and put the hurt on them with their run game. The ND defense shouldn’t be challenged by this awful Stanford offense either. The Irish haven’t allowed more than 20 points in their last four games.
