ND in a must-win vs. Stanford
No. 4 Notre Dame may not be in control of its playoff destiny, but one thing is for sure, the Irish need a win over No. 13 Stanford today to have any shot.
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Stanford is favored at home in this game, as the Cardinal are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Irish. The over/under total for the game has been set at 56 points. These two meet tonight at 7:30PM ET on FOX.
At 10-1, Notre Dame has a solid resume to make the playoffs, but the Irish were ranked sixth in last week’s poll and this will be their final game of the season. They don’t have a conference championship to play for, so they need a win over the Cardinal to improve their chances. Oddsmakers currently list ND at +850 to win the national championship this season.
ND is 7-4 against the spread in 2015 and meeting up against a 9-2 Stanford team that is 8-3 against the spread. The Cardinal are just a few weeks removed from a 38-36 loss to Oregon that ended their playoff chances. The Irish have been able to stay in the playoff mix thanks to their lone loss being at Clemson, 24-22. They’ve also managed to win despite a large number of season-ending injuries to skill position players. The latest injury issue is an ankle injury to running back C.J. Prosise, which has him doubtful to play. Prosise has run for 1,029 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.
