Notre Dame Fighting Irish Game Notes
Notre Dame wide receiver Matt Salerno suffered a lower leg injury in the Irish’s 56-3 win over Tennessee State on Saturday. Salerno had 2 punt returns for 21 yards in that contest. He’s listed as Notre Dame’s third-string X-receiver. Notre Dame transfer running back Devyn Ford suffered a concussion in Saturday’s contest and is questionable for this weekend’s game against NC State. Ford is listed as the team’s fourth-string running back. Irish defensive lineman Gabriel Rubio suffered a knee injury in the team’s Week 0 win over Navy in Dublin, Ireland, and he figures to be out for this weekend and multiple additional weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

NC State Wolfpack Game Notes
North Carolina State safety Rakeim Ashford suffered a whiplash-like injury in the team’s 24-14 win over UConn on Saturday. He was stretchered off the field and was taken to a local hospital for further testing. The tests came back “the way you would want” according to Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren, but Ashford won’t suit up against Notre Dame this weekend.
Wolfpack quarterback Brennan Armstong will be key in Saturday’s game. The former Virginia signal-caller played well in his team’s season-opening win against Connecticut, as he threw for 155 yards, and added 96 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on the ground. He’ll likely have to match points with Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman to keep the Wolfpack competitive in this one.

Notre Dame vs. NC State Betting Prediction
The Notre Dame hype train has seemingly begun barreling down the tracks at full speed. Their quarterback Sam Hartman is a big reason why. The former Wake Forest signal-caller has seemingly raised the Fighting Irish’s ceiling. But he was much better at home last season than on the road. At home in 2022, Sam Hartman had a completion percentage of 64.1% and a touchdown-pass-to-interception ratio of 23-4. On the road, Hartman only completed 61.8% of his passes with a TD-INT ratio of 12-7. It’s one thing to dominate lesser teams like Navy and Tennessee State. It’s a whole other story to light it up against a pretty good team on the road like North Carolina State who figures to be bowl-eligible this season. Notre Dame may ultimately win this game, but I doubt it will be by more than a touchdown if they do. I’ll take the Wolfpack and the points at home.
