Irish pick up big win
Notre Dame earned its biggest win of the season last week when it handled Stanford, 38-17, at home. The Fighting Irish are now 5-0 on the season, 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under. The Irish have hit the over in their last two games.
ND is now averaging 32.8 points and 442.4 yards per game on offense for the year. They have had a real boost with the ball since Ian Book was made the starting QB. He has thrown for 616 yards and seven touchdowns while also rushing for 87 yards and three scores. Tony Jones Jr. has 303 rushing yards and three scores while Jafar Armstrong has run for 245 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, the Irish are holding opponents to just 18.8 points and 340.6 yards per game.
Tech earns nice bounce-back win
Just a week after suffering an embarrassing loss at Old Dominion, the Virginia Tech football team bounced back nicely last week by handing Duke its first loss, 31-14. The Hokies are now 3-1 overall, 3-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under.
Tech has been putting up 38 points and 479.5 yards per game this season. The Hokies took a big blow when Josh Jackson was lost to a broken leg, but Ryan Willis has played pretty well in his absence. He has thrown for 527 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions this season. Steven Peoples is leading the Tech ground attack this year with 302 yards on 55 carries and five touchdowns.

Notre Dame
The Irish are 5-1 with the under in their last six games in October and 4-1 with the under in their last five road games.
Virginia Tech
The Hokies have hit the under in 15 of their last 19 games in October and 6-2-1 with the under in their last nine home games.
Prediction:
Notre Dame has looked great the last two weeks with Book, but I think the Irish are due for a letdown on the road after the impressive win over Stanford. Everyone has been telling ND that they have an easy path to the playoffs now, completely overlooking Virginia Tech. The Hokies have a strong run defense that should cause some problems and keep this game competitive and low-scoring. I don’t think we will see a crisp ND team this week, so I like the under to hit.
College Football Prediction: Notre Dame/Virginia Tech Under 56.5
