Buckeyes dominate another
Ohio State dominated another opponent last week, defeating Miami (Ohio) 76-5 at home. The Buckeyes improved to 4-0 on the season and are 1-0 in the Big Ten. They are also 3-1 against the spread and 2-1-1 with the over.
The Buckeyes are rolling right now, as the defense is giving up just 9 points and 222 yards per game this season. Offensively, Ohio State is putting up 53.5 points and 524.5 yards per contest. Quarterback Justin Fields has thrown for 880 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 150 yards and six scores. J.K. Dobbins is leading the ground attack with 477 yards and five touchdowns while Binjimen Victor is the leading receiver with 14 catches for 242 yards and two scores. The defense is being led by Chase Young, who has 14 tackles and seven sacks through four games.
Nebraska survives at Illinois
Nebraska opened up conference play last weekend with a 42-38 win at Illinois to improve to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers are 1-3 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Cornhuskers are putting up 38 points and 485.8 yards per game on offense this season while the defense is allowing 25.3 points and 356.8 yards per contest. Quarterback Adrian Martinez has thrown for 1,052 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 234 yards and three scores. Maurice Washington is the leading rusher with 268 yards, but is dealing with a few minor injuries. He is expected to play on Saturday. JD Spielman is the leading receiver with 18 catches for 383 yards and a touchdown.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
The Buckeyes have covered the spread in six straight games against winning team and in four of their last five conference games.
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games, but just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games.
Prediction:
Nebraska gave Ohio State a scare last year, but the Buckeyes have covered in four of the last five meetings with the Cornhuskers. Nebraska had a lot of buzz coming into the season, but they haven’t looked sharp in most of their games. Ohio State is hitting the road, but the Buckeyes won 51-10 at Indiana already this year. I think the Buckeyes are going to be able to continue their scorching offensive pace in this game. Nebraska doesn’t have a great defense. The Huskers may be able to find some holes against this Ohio State defense, but not enough to cover the spread.
College Football Week 5 Prediction: Ohio State -17.5
