Nebraska gets a scare at Illinois
Nebraska opened up conference play last weekend with a 42-38 win at Illinois to improve to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers are 1-3 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Cornhuskers are putting up 38 points and 485.8 yards per game on offense this season while the defense is allowing 25.3 points and 356.8 yards per contest. Quarterback Adrian Martinez has thrown for 1,052 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 234 yards and three scores. Maurice Washington is the leading rusher with 268 yards, but is dealing with a few minor injuries. He is expected to play tonight. JD Spielman is the leading receiver with 18 catches for 383 yards and a touchdown.
Buckeyes rolling along
Ohio State dominated another opponent last week, defeating Miami (Ohio) 76-5 at home. The Buckeyes improved to 4-0 on the season and are 1-0 in the Big Ten. They are also 3-1 against the spread and 2-1-1 with the over.
The Buckeyes are rolling right now, as the defense is giving up just 9 points and 222 yards per game this season. Offensively, Ohio State is putting up 53.5 points and 524.5 yards per contest. Quarterback Justin Fields has thrown for 880 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 150 yards and six scores. J.K. Dobbins is leading the ground attack with 477 yards and five touchdowns while Binjimen Victor is the leading receiver with 14 catches for 242 yards and two scores. The defense is being led by Chase Young, who has 14 tackles and seven sacks through four games.
College Football Betting Trends
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers are 13-3-1 with the over in their last 17 conference games and 12-4-1 with the over in their last 17 against a winning team.
Ohio State
The Buckeyes are 4-0 with the over in their last four conference games and 9-3 with the over in their last 12 road games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in four of their last five meetings and they put up 67 points in last year’s meeting despite hitting the under. The Nebraska defense has struggled in a few games this year, so I expect Ohio State to score plenty of points. The Buckeyes could experience a few problems on defense, going on the road for a night game against a team that has put up at least 31 points in every game this year. I look for some big plays to happen for both teams throughout the game, allowing the over to hit.
