Texas Longhorns
Texas HC Tom Herman told reporters on Monday that sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger continues to progress. Herman was expecting Ehlinger to throw between 25-and-30 passes at practice as he works his way through the shoulder sprain he suffered against Baylor on October 13. He mentioned there are unique challenges with an over-the-top throwing motion, and they want to make sure their sophomore starter is at his best before committing him to starting against Oklahoma State. It does sound like he’s going to be able to play, but Shane Buechele would be the starter if Ehlinger can’t go.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma State redshirt senior QB Taylor Cornelius completed 17-of-35 passes for 184 yards with two interceptions while rushing for 55 yards and a touchdown in a 31-12 loss on Saturday to Kansas State. The rushing yards are decent, but this offense requires accuracy from the quarterback in the passing game, and Cornelius has not shown it in back-to-back losses (although he did throw for four scores against Iowa State). It’s been a mostly successful transition from Mason Rudolph to the redshirt senior, but the last two weeks have been a reminder that Cornelius isn’t Rudolph. The Cowboys will look to get back on the winning path against Texas on October 27.
Betting Trends

Prediction
I like getting the hook with the home team playing at night. Has Oklahoma State been impressive this season? No. But Texas is slightly overrated because of its big win over Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. Their QB Sam Ehlinger is also banged with with a sprained shoulder and even if he plays he’ll be limited. I think the Pokes get up for this one and pulls off a small upset but given their inconsistencies this season, I like having the 3.5 in my back pocket.
