Oklahoma State vs. Colorado Valero Alamo Bowl Predictions 12/29/16

2016 Alamo Bowl Prediction

Will Colorado cover as a small favorite tonight when it takes on Oklahoma State in the Valero Alamo Bowl at 9:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Buffaloes are 3-point favorites versus the Cowboys after opening as a 2.5-point favorite when the bowl lines were first released. As for the total, the number hit the board at 62.5 and has been bet up to 63.

OKLAHOMA STATE KEY TRENDS: The Cowboys are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games following an ATS loss and have covered in five straight after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous contest. They’re also 8-1 at the betting window in their last nine games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and are 4-1 against the number in their last five games when playing an opponent that owns a winning record.

COLORADO KEY TRENDS: The Buffaloes have been a great buy for bettors in various situations. They’re 11-3 against the spread in their last 14 games overall, are 7-2 against the number in their last nine games versus a team with a winning record, and are 4-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games. They’re also 4-1 at the betting window in their last five games coming off a straight up loss.

OUR PREDICTION: The lasting impression of Colorado was the Buffs being dominated 41-10 by Washington in the Pac-12 championship game. But Colorado has an opportunity to secure the program’s first winning season since 2005 and its first bowl win since the 2004 Houston Bowl, so the Buffaloes have plenty to play for. Oklahoma State’s offense gave plenty of opportunities fits this season while averaging 38.7 points per game, but Colorado allowed just 182.0 passing yards per game this season, which ranked 12th in the nation. With quarterback Sefo Liufau probable after suffering an ankle injury in the Pac-12 title game, I like Colorado to cover the small spread.
