Oklahoma vs. Nebraska Prediction
Oklahoma is ranked #6 in the nation after winning their first two games by a combined score of 78-16. They’ll take on a floundering Nebraska squad that just lost at home to Georgia Southern and fired their coach Scott Frost.
This is the second half of a home-and-home agreement between the two former Big 12 rivals. Oklahoma toppled Nebraska 23-16 in Norman last year.

Oklahoma Game Notes
Former Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley left to go to USC, and he took quarterback Caleb Williams with him. Brent Venables, the former Oklahoma and Clemson defensive coordinator has taken the reins in Norman. The Sooners’ defense has looked good in the early going, as they’re 10th in the country in points allowed per game.
They’re also tied for third in the country in sacks as a team with 9. It should be noted that their first two games were against UTEP and Kent State, but the point remains. Defensive lineman Reggie Grimes has four of those 9 sacks, and he will likely make an impact on Saturday.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Game Notes
Scott Frost was on thin ice when he lost a week 0 game to Northwestern. He fell through when his team dropped a home game against Georgia Southern in which they gave up 45 points and 642 yards. He was fired after that game and almost nobody was surprised.
The thing is, Nebraska does have some talent on offense. They have two backs with 20 carries averaging over 6 yards per tote (Anthony Grant and Ajay Allen). They have a quarterback in Casey Thompson who threw for 2,113 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions when he was with Texas last year. If they could just get a few stops or a turnover or two, they could be competitive in this game.

Oklahoma vs. Nebraska Betting Prediction
Nebraska passing game coordinator Mickey Joseph will be the interim head coach. He played quarterback for the Huskers and was a wide receivers coach at LSU from 2017-2021. It’s worth noting that Power 5 programs were 4-3 against the spread last season in the first game after firing their head coach.
Scott Frost may have been holding Nebraska back with some of his head-scratching decision-making. He ends his tenure in Lincoln with a record of 5-22 in one-score games. Interestingly enough, a one-score game would cover the spread, and that’s what I think Nebraska will do.
