Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes
Oklahoma redshirt freshman QB Spencer Rattler completed 13-of-22 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-14 victory over TCU on Saturday. Rattler (6’1/205) hooked up with freshman sensation Marvin Mims on both of his touchdown passes. On the first touchdown, Mims ran a deep cross pattern that caused the cornerback covering him to collide with the strong safety, leaving Mims wide open for a 50-yard strike. The second touchdown pass came when Mims out-jumped the opposing defender for a spectacular 61-yard bomb. The former number one rated quarterback from the 2019 recruiting class looked comfortable in the pocket while averaging an exceptional 15.1 yards per attempt as Oklahoma cruised to the 19 point victory. OU will try to secure their third Big 12 victory when they host Texas Tech next Saturday.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Game Notes
Texas Tech redshirt junior QB Henry Colombi completed 22-of-28 passes for 169 yards with a touchdown and ran for another score with 40 yards on the ground in a 34-27 win over West Virginia on Saturday. Colombi was making his first start as a member of the Red Raiders after Alan Bowman’s awful effort against Iowa State, and while it’s not a huge statistical game, it looks like he’s going to be the starter going forward and for good reason. He was accurate with his throws, and he also showed some scrambling ability; finding the end zone on a one-yard plunge. The former Utah State quarterback will very likely be back under center next Saturday against Oklahoma.
