Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech Prediction
#20 Ole Miss travels to Atlanta for their toughest test of the season. The Rebels already have wins over Troy and Central Arkansas and they’ll try to extend their season-opening winning streak to three in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets got housed on Labor Day, losing to Clemson in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome 41-10. They bounced back with a 35-17 win over Western Carolina last week. They’re going to have their work cut out for them against the Rebs this weekend.

Ole Miss Game Notes
The Rebels’ starting backfield consists of two transfers. USC transfer Jaxson Dart is a sophomore quarterback who should secure his hold on the starting QB job in Oxford on Saturday. He has a fearlessness and a swagger about him that should rub off on his teammates. It also helps that he’s 25th in the country with a QBR of 80.1 out of 100.
Dart’s backfield mate is NFL Draft prospect and TCU transfer Zach Evans. The 6’0” 215-pound running back is averaging 7 yards per carry and 11.4 yards per catch over 17 career games. He had 130 yards on the ground against Troy, the third-highest single-game total of his career. He should be able to take some of the pressure off of Dart and slow down the Georgia Tech pass rush.
Georgia Tech Game Notes
Georgia Tech’s offense is abysmal. They’re the 11th worst team in the country in offensive yards per game and they’re in the bottom 10 in passing yards per game. Against a team like Ole Miss that’s going to put up its share of points, that’s going to be a problem. The Yellow Jackets’ inability to pass creates another problem: converting third downs. They’re only converting a paltry 26% of their third down chances thus far, and that will considerably hamper their ability to extend drives and keep Lane Kiffin’s offense off the field. Their only chance is to pressure the passer and senior defensive linemen Keion White has already shown he can do that. He’s tied for the ACC lead with three sacks on the campaign.

Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech Betting Prediction
Sometimes it all comes down to the coaching and the quarterbacks. Georgia Tech’s head coach Geoff Collins is 10-26 at the helm for the Yellow Jackets. Tech’s quarterback Jeff Sims is only completing 58.5% of his passes on only 5 yards per attempt. He’s thrown more picks than touchdowns this year.
Lane Kiffin is 17-8 at Ole Miss and his quarterback (Jaxson Dart) is completing 66.7% of his passes on a healthy 8 yards per pass attempt. Dart has a passer rating of 152.7. The talent disparity will be evident on Saturday as the Rebels roll in Atlanta.
