Oregon Season Odds
EUGENE, OR (TheSpread) – Oregon was one win away from a national championship last season. Will the Ducks find a way to complete the run this season?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Oregon is currently listed with 20/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Ducks are getting odds of +275 to win the Pac-12 Championship this year, while their over/under total for wins has been set at 9.5.
Mark Helfrich is entering his third year as head coach of the Ducks. He led Oregon to an 11-2 record in 2013 with a 7-2 mark in the Pac-12. Last season, the Ducks went 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the Pac-12, winning the conference title. Oregon also defeated Florida State in the playoff semifinals before losing to Ohio State in the title game.
The Ducks were one of the top offenses in the nation again in 2014, averaging 45.4 points and 547 yards per game. The defense was also quite respectable, allowing just 23.6 points per contest. Oregon loses Heisman winner Marcus Mariota at quarterback. His replacement could be Jeff Lockie, who saw limited action last season. However, Oregon also is hoping to have Vernon Adams eligible to play. He transferred from Eastern Washington after throwing for 10,438 yards and 110 touchdowns in three seasons. He is dealing with some transfer issues that could keep him from being available to start the year. Helping the new quarterback will be Royce Freeman, who rushed for 1,365 yards and 18 touchdowns as a freshman. Also helping will be receiver Byron Marshall, who caught 74 passes for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns.
Oregon will face Eastern Washington and Georgia State at home in non-conference action, but heads to Michigan State in the second game of the season in a huge early matchup on the national landscape. Pac-12 home games for Oregon include Utah, Washington State, Cal, USC and Oregon State. Road trips will be made to Colorado, Washington, Arizona State and Stanford. The conference schedule features the big home game with USC. The toughest road games in the Pac-12 will be at Arizona State and Stanford. If Oregon continues to get strong QB play out of its new starter, the Ducks should be a national contender once again.
