Oregon Ducks Game Notes

Oregon junior EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux is officially entering the NFL draft. Thibodeaux (6’5″/250) has been a projected top-five pick since the season started, and that didn’t change through 2021. He racked up 12 TFLs and seven sacks and was a Nagurski Trophy finalist. He’s ranked second on PFF’s top 100 prospects list. Thibodeaux going to the draft was a foregone conclusion, but it is now official. The only question now is how high the highly regarded EDGE goes. Thibodeaux will not appear in Oregon’s bowl game and signs with Wasserman Media Group to represent him.

Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes

Oklahoma interim HC Bob Stoops will lead the Sooners into a matchup against Oregon in the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 29th. Stoops, who was the head coach at Oklahoma from 1999 to 2016 will get one more game to add to his legacy with the Sooners. Stoops’ entire career as a head coach was spent at Oklahoma, where he went 190-48 as a head coach with a bowl record of 9-9 to go with a national championship in 2000. Stoops will have the privilege of coaching freshman superstar quarterback Caleb Williams in his first bowl game, against an Oregon team that has struggled late in the season, and could be without head coach Mario Cristobal who is rumored to be heading to Miami. This game will be a fun one to track, if for no reason other than seeing Stoops on the sidelines one more time.

Oregon vs. Oklahoma Betting Prediction

The Sooners have covered in four straight neutral site games, are 4-0 against the spread in their last four neutral site games when favored and are 5-2 at the betting window in their last seven bowl games overall. On the other side, the Ducks are just 6-14-1 against the spread in their last 21 non-conference games and are 5-12 against the number in their last 17 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous contest.
