Oregon Ducks Game Notes
Oregon redshirt sophomore QB Tyler Shough completed 19-of-30 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-35 victory over UCLA on Saturday. Shough (6’5″/195) had another strong outing as he led the Bruin offense to their third-straight game of 35 points or more to start the season. On two of his touchdown passes, Shough cleverly disguised his intentions by faking a handoff only to pull the ball down and pretend to run straight into the line, then quickly flicking the ball to a wide open tight end or running back who lost their defenders in the middle of the field for scores. The first of his touchdown passes went to a streaking Travis Dye for a 32-yard strike and Hunter Kampmoyer for an easy 12-yard score. Shough takes on in-state Pac-12 rival Oregon State in Corvallis next Saturday.
Oregon State Beavers Game Notes
Oregon State redshirt junior QB Tristan Gebbia completed 12-of-20 passes for 147 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass in a 31-27 win on Saturday over California. Talk about doing a little bit of everything. Gebbia pulled of the Philly (Corvalis?) special when he caught an eight-yard pass from Tyjon Lindsey early in the fourth quarter. His touchdown pass was a 35-yarder to Teagan Quitoriano, and the rushing score was the go-ahead touchdown with a one-yard plunge. The touchdowns are nice and fun, but Gebbia also threw some silly interceptions, and it nearly cost the Beavers their first win of the season. Almost. Oregon State will take a 1-2 record into a battle with Oregon on Friday.
