Pittsburgh Panthers Game Notes
Pitt senior QB Kenny Pickett completed 35-of-52 passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns in a 47-14 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday. Pickett (6’2/220) was absolutely superb in the contest, leading the Panthers to 556 yards of total offense, racking up 30 first downs and completing a robust 67 percent of his passes. He was practically joined at the hip with DJ Turner, who was on the receiving end of 15 of his completions, including a jaw-dropping 64-yard touchdown where Turner caught the pass in-between two defenders and immediately pivoted as soon as he reeled it in, creating space and allowing him to make a dash for the end zone. Even when he was pressured, Pickett was able to roll out of harms way and convert. The 5-4 Panthers travel to play fourth ranked Clemson next Saturday.
Clemson Tigers Game Notes
Clemson sophomore WR Joe Ngata (undisclosed) will miss the remainder of the regular season. Ngata (6’4/215) underwent surgery Wednesday morning for an undisclosed ailment and will now miss the remainder of the regular season. HC Dabo Swinney indicated the team hopes he will be 100 percent for the postseason. A former four-star recruit, Ngata has been slowed by an abdominal injury suffered in Clemson’s 37-13 season opening victory. Frank Ladson is also banged up, so freshman WR E.J. Williams will likely see increased snaps in Ngata’s absence when Clemson takes on Pitt this Saturday.
