Pitt upsets Syracuse
Pittsburgh ended a 2-game losing streak last weekend with a 44-37 OT win over Syracuse to move to 3-3 on the season. The Panthers are 2-1 in the ACC, 2-4 against the spread and 3-3 with the under.
Pitt has really struggled on defense, allowing 32.8 points and 420.8 yards per game. Their run defense is giving up nearly 200 yards per contest. On offense, Pitt is putting up 26 points and 353 yards per game. Qadree Ollison is leading the offense with 596 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Kenny Pickett has thrown for 880 yards and six touchdowns, but also has five interceptions.
Irish keep rolling
Notre Dame has won back-to-back games over ranked opponents, defeating Stanford and Virginia Tech the last two weeks. The Irish are now 6-0 on the season and 4-2 against the spread while going 3-3 with the over/under total. They have hit the over in three straight.
The Fighting Irish have really improved on offense over the weeks. They now are posting 34.8 points and 441.7 yards per game. Ian Book has thrown or 887 yards and nine touchdowns and been a big reason for the spark of the offense. Miles Boykin is the leading receiver with 28 catches for 428 yards and three scores while Dexter Williams and Tony Jones Jr. have combined for 641 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Notre Dame is giving up 19.5 points and 357.3 yards per game.
College Football Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh has hit the under in six of its last eight against Independent teams and in seven of its last eight road games.
Notre Dame
Notre Dame has hit the under in seven of its last 10 games overall and in four of its last five home games.
Prediction:
While the trends are strongly with the under, I think these two will hit the over in the low total. Pittsburgh isn’t going to be able to slow down Notre Dame. The Irish are rolling since Book took over the offense, scoring at least 38 in all three games. Pittsburgh has a terrible defense, especially a poor run defense, that should allow the Irish to march down the field. I would expect Pitt to score a few touchdowns along the way to hit the over.
College Football Prediction: Pittsburgh/Notre Dame Over 53.5
