Report: Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham dealing with broken ankle/fibula

Baylor QB Stidham out for the season?

Texas beat writer Chip Brown tweeted late Monday night that he’s “hearing” Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham has a broken ankle/fibula and will miss the rest of the season.

Stidham took over for injured starter Seth Russell, who was sidelined after having surgery on his neck. The freshman quarterback showed plenty of promise, leading the Bears to a road win against Kansas State before failing to out-duel Baker Mayfield in a loss at home the following week to Oklahoma. Next up for Baylor could be sophomore Chris Johnson as the Bears prepare to face TCU this weekend.

The line for that Baylor-TCU game for Friday night is currently off the board. The Horned Frogs are also dealing with a plethora of injuries, including at quarterback as well. Trevone Boykin is currently questionable with an ankle injury after sitting out of TCU’s 30-29 loss to Oklahoma last Saturday night in Norman. Receiver Josh Doctson is also out for the season due to a wrist injury.

The underdog is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings as well. The Bears, meanwhile, are just 1-7 at the betting window in their last eight games versus the Horned Frogs overall.
