Florida State, fresh off a national championship and undefeated season in 2013, ran the table again in 2014. The Seminoles went 13-0 on the season and 8-0 in the ACC, claiming another league title. Despite the 13 wins, FSU was just 3-10 against the spread and only seeded third in the playoff. The Seminoles have failed to covered the spread in their last three and they have hit the under in four of their last five games.
Oregon went 12-1 this season and 8-1 in the Pac-12. The only hiccup came against Arizona on Oct. 2 in a 31-24 loss at home, but the Ducks avenged the loss with a 51-13 victory in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Oregon was 9-4 against the spread this season and they have covered the spread in eight straight games, with three of them being by single digits. The Ducks have hit the under in their last three games.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Oregon is the clear favorite in this game, as the Ducks are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Seminoles. The over/under total for the game has been set at 71 points (View Matchup). These two have no recent meetings.
Oregon has run over virtually every team it has played, averaging 46.3 points and 545.5 yards per game. It faces a Florida State defense that has been far worse than it was a year ago, allowing 378.3 yards per game and has typically started slow. FSU should have a chance to score points on the Oregon defense, but FSU will have to find a way to slow down Marcus Mariota, the 2014 Heisman winner. The Oregon quarterback has thrown for 3,783 yards and 38 touchdowns while rushing for 669 yards and 14 scores.
