Should you wager on Virginia Tech with even odds at Notre Dame?

Virginia Tech vs. Notre Dame Pick

Will Notre Dame find a way to pick up a big win and keep bowl hopes alive when the Irish host Virginia Tech on Saturday at 3:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, this game is considered even, as neither team is being given a point. The over/under total is listed at 55 points. These two have no recent meetings to consider.

Bet on Virginia Tech vs. Notre Dame

The Irish are coming off a 44-6 win over Army last week to move to 4-6 on the year and stay in the mix for a bowl. The Irish have now won two of their last three and are 4-6 against the spread, covering in all four wins. ND is now averaging 31.3 points and 415.4 yards per game on the season. DeShone Kizer remains the team leader with 2,470 passing yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for 440 yards and seven scores. Josh Adams has added 653 rushing yards and three scores. Kizer may be without one of his top receiver on Saturday as Torii Hunter Jr. is questionable with a knee injury. Hunter has 38 catches for 521 yards and three scores. Defensively, Notre Dame is getting better, as the unit is giving up 25.5 points and 371.5 yards per game. After giving up more than 30 points in four of their first five games, the Irish have held three of their last five opponents under 20 points.

Virginia Tech is coming off a 30-20 loss at home to Georgia Tech to drop to 7-3 on the season. The Hokies are 4-6 against the spread, failing to cover the spread in three straight. The Hokies rely on their defense, giving up 21.2 points and 329 yards per contest. They are giving up just 184 passing yards per game this season. On offense, Tech is putting up 33.2 points and 444.3 yards per game. The Hokies average over 180 rushing yards per contest, thanks to a committee of backs. Jerod Evans has 608 yards and six scores while Travon McMillian has 566 yards with four touchdowns. Evans has also thrown for 2,525 yards and 22 touchdowns with only four interceptions.

Oddsmakers are giving the Irish a lot of credit despite being a pretty bad team this year. While the Hokies slipped up last week, they still own wins over Pitt and UNC and they beat Miami by 21. The Irish beat Miami at home by 3 just a few weeks ago. The Hokies have the defense to cause problems for Kizer and, while the ND defense is improved, they still aren’t physical enough to stop the Hokies’ run game for a full game.
