SMU vs ECU Public Betting Information

As of this writing, the public is favoring the Mustangs in this game. Our CFB Public Betting page shows that 52% of public bets are on SMU -12.5. Note that these numbers are subject to change and could be different once game time rolls around.

SMU Mustangs Game Notes

Preston Stone bounced back from the in-state loss to TCU with a solid effort versus Charlotte, passing for 135 yards with two touchdowns to an interception. The hometown product has delivered mixed results since replacing Tanner Mordecai behind center this season, and he’ll look to pin his first road victory in the QB1 role. Stone has passed for 1.191 yards with eleven touchdowns to five interceptions through five games.

East Carolina Pirates Game Notes

Alex Flynn had a busy day in Houston versus Rice last weekend, going 21/44 for a career-high 246 yards and an INT. The Pirates managed to lose that contest by seven, and you have to wonder if Flinn is even an upgrade over the dual-threat minded Mason Garcia. ECU’s offensive struggles come down to the quarterback position, and it’s going to be hard to trust them going forward. Flynn has passed for 611 yards with a touchdown to five interceptions thru five game appearances.

East Carolina has only hit the Game Total Over in 6 of their last 12 games

SMU has hit the Game Total Under in 8 of their last 13 games

Purdue has hit the Moneyline in 4 of their last 6 away games

SMU vs ECU Betting Prediction

A night game at Dowdy-Ficklen used to mean so much more, but the incompetent play at the quarterback position really clouds any underdog possibilities for ECU. The Pirates failed to groom Holton Ahlers’ replacement, and it’s reflected in their record. The margin is a bit stiff for an unproven road team like SMU, but it’s been that subpar for East Carolina on the offensive end. Roll with the Mustangs this Thursday evening for this AAC matchup, and with Under trend being so positive for both schools, give that a view as well.
