SMU Mustangs Game Notes

SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson (knee) and sophomore RB TJ McDaniel (ankle) will undergo season-ending surgery, HC Sonny Dykes announced on Monday. These are two huge personnel losses for the Mustangs, with both players suffering their injuries during SMU’s October 3 win over Memphis. McDaniels suffered a dislocated ankle on the first play from scrimmage, while Roberson went down with a torn ACL in the third quarter. “I hate it for both of them,” Dykes said Monday. “TJ is one of the hardest workers in our program. Reggie has been an unbelievable playmaker for us. He was playing with a ton of confidence. I mean, he had 250+ yards and that was early in the third quarter when he got injured. He was well on his way to having a really big game.” Among those who will be asked to step up for the 4-0 Mustangs are RB Ulysses Bentley IV, receivers Rashee Rice and Danny Gray, and TE Kylen Granson.

Tulane Green Wave Game Notes

Tulane freshman QB Michael Pratt completed 11-of-25 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown in Thursday night’s 49-31 loss to Houston. Through a couple games of action, it has been up and down for Pratt. On the one hand, he has yet to throw an interception over 44 passing attempts, which feels like a win for a youngster. On the other hand, he has only completed 20 of those passes, signaling a major issue with accuracy and playing within the structure of the system. All of those issues are to be expected of a freshman, especially when having to play some serious catch up against a blazing Houston offense in the second half of this one. Stay tuned to see if Pratt remains the starter for next week’s game against SMU.
