Cuse rolling
Syracuse is on a roll right now, winning four straight following a 54-23 victory at home over Louisville last week that led to the firing of Bobby Petrino of Louisville. The Orange are now 8-2 overall, 7-2-1 against the spread and 6-4 with the over. They have hit the over in four of their last five games.
The Syracuse offense has been a handful for opponents this year. The Orange are putting up 44.4 points and 482.2 yards per game this year. Eric Dungey has thrown for 2,193 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 690 yards and 12 touchdowns. Leading rusher Moe Neal has 716 yards and five touchdowns, but he is questionable for this game with an undisclosed injury. Jamal Custis is the leading receiver with 42 catches for 748 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Syracuse is allowing 27.6 points and 430.3 yards per game. Their run defense is giving up nearly 170 yards per game.
Notre Dame stays unbeaten
The Fighting Irish remained undefeated with a sound 42-13 win over Florida State at home last week. Notre Dame is now 10-0 overall, 6-3-1 against the spread and 6-4 with the over. The Irish have hit the over in three straight and six of their last seven games.
Notre Dame is averaging 34.5 points and 453.7 yards per game on offense this year. Quarterback Ian Book had to sit out last week with a rib injury, but the offense still played well. Book is expected back this week. He has thrown for 1,824 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season. Dexter Williams is the leading rusher with 770 yards and 10 touchdowns while Miles Boykin is the leading receiver with 44 catches, 654 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, Notre Dame is allowing 18.7 points and 330.1 yards per contest. Their pass defense is giving up just 191.2 yards per game.
College Football Betting Trends
Syracuse
Syracuse has hit the under in four of its last five games on grass and in nine of its last 13 games following a win.
Notre Dame
Notre Dame has hit the over in four straight against a winning team and in four straight after amassing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
Prediction:
The total is being set pretty high and these two have the potential to hit it. However, an outdoor game at a big stadium on grass could lead to some offensive struggles. Syracuse is a turf team that I think will have trouble in the cold and on grass. It will slow them down a little bit, especially if Neal is unable to play. Notre Dame is accustomed to playing on grass, but Book may not be quite 100 percent. The rib injury could limit his ability to throw deep and the Irish may have to run more of a ball-control offense. For these reasons, I like the under to hit as I expect Syracuse to hit a bit of an offensive wall.
College Football Prediction: Syracuse/Notre Dame Under 63
