Syracuse Orange Game Notes
Syracuse redshirt senior QB Rex Culpepper is expected to start against Notre Dame this Saturday. Culpepper (6’2/221) had been supplanted as the starter by JaCobian Morgan, but when the freshman went down with an injury against Louisville two weeks ago, the redshirt senior was once again called upon to take the reins of the sputtering Syracuse offense. He had arguably his best game last Saturday, completing 23-of-45 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-29 loss to NC State. The cancer survivor will now start the final game of the year against a stout Notre Dame defense.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Game Notes
Notre Dame redshirt senior QB Ian Book completed 23-of-33 passes for 279 yards and a touchdown and ran for 48 yards in a 31-17 win over North Carolina on Friday. Book struggled early on, as the Notre Dame receivers struggled to create separation against a surprisingly game UNC defense. The second half was a different story, however, and Book showed off his impressive improve skills while making plays with his legs and flipping the ball for first downs when needed. His touchdown was a four-yard dump to Kyren Williams that tied the game at 14-14. Notre Dame remains undefeated, and is all but a lock to play in the ACC title game now. Book and the Fighting Irish should have no trouble topping Syracuse next Saturday.
Syracuse vs. Notre Dame Betting Prediction
The under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and while Notre Dame can score at will, Syracuse won’t provide enough offense to help push the final score over the total today in South Bend. In fact, the under is 11-5 in the Orange’s last 16 games as a road underdog and is 29-14-1 in their last 44 road games when facing an opponent with a winning home record. The under is also 4-1 I the Fighting Irish’s last five games played in the month of December and is 5-2 in their last seven home games when facing an opponent with a losing road record.
