Baylor, TCU both banged up
The injury reports might be more talented than the active rosters when No. 15 TCU hosts No. 7 Baylor today. Here’s the latest odds and injuries for this key game.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, TCU is the slight favorite at home in this game, as the Horned Frogs are getting odds of -1 point against Baylor today. The over/under total for the game has been set at 78.5 points. These two meet tonight at 7:30PM ET on ESPN.
TCU is 9-2 on the year and 6-2 in the Big 12 while Baylor is 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12. Both teams are dealing with injuries at the quarterback position.
TCU starter Trevone Boykin is questionable for the game with an ankle injury. He had to sit out last week’s loss to Oklahoma, but he is suspected to play today. Boykin was a Heisman candidate prior to the injury. He has thrown for 3,426 yards and 29 touchdowns while running for 596 yards and eight scores. Even if Boykin plays, he is without his top receiver, Josh Doctson, who is missing the rest of the year with a wrist injury. Doctson had 78 catches for 1,326 yards and 14 touchdowns this year.
Baylor is down to its third-string QB. Seth Russell had a season-ending neck injury a few weeks back and then Jarrett Stidham suffered an ankle injury in last week’s game. Chris Johnson stepped in last week and was 5 of 10 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns, leading Baylor to a 45-35 win over Oklahoma State to get back in the playoff picture. The Bears are currently listed with 10/1 odds to win the playoffs after moving to seventh in the latest rankings on Tuesday. One thing Johnson has that Boykin doesn’t is his top receiver. Corey Coleman is healthy and has 66 catches for 1,306 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
