Horned Frogs hammer Kansas
After losing to SMU at home two weeks ago, TCU bounced back last weekend with a 51-14 win over Kansas at home. The Horned Frogs are 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in the Big 12, 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
TCU is putting up strong numbers on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up just 18.8 points and 246 yards per game this year while the offense is averaging 40.5 points and 488.5 yards per game. Max Duggan has taken over under center and has thrown or 523 yards with seven touchdowns this year. Darius Anderson is leading the team on the ground with 483 yards and five scores. Five different TCU receivers have over 100 yards this year. None are over 132 yards. Garret Wallow is leading the TCU defense with 48 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Cyclones edged again
Iowa State is coming off a 23-21 loss at Baylor last weekend. The Cyclones have lost two games this year by three points and their last three losses as a program have been by two points or less. This year, Iowa State is 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the Big 12, 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Cyclones are putting up 34.8 points and 500 yards per game on offense this season while the defense is giving up 21.8 points and 352.8 yards per outing. Brock Purdy has been a 1-man offense for the most part, throwing for 1,331 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 101 yards and three scores. Kene Nwangwu is the leading rusher on the team with just 119 yards, but he is questionable to play on Saturday with a hamstring injury. Tarique Milton is the leading receiver for ISU with 16 catches for 344 yards and two touchdowns. O’Rien Vance is leading the defense with 26 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
TCU
The Horned Frogs are just 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 conference games and 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games on grass.
Iowa State
The Cyclones are 15-7 against the spread in their last 22 home games and 21-7-1 ATS in their last 29 games in October.
Prediction:
The home team has won three straight in this series and Iowa State has covered the spread in the last three meetings with TCU. Both teams have looked very strong at times and very weak other times. Iowa State has a defense that has held up throughout the year. The Cyclones haven’t given up more than 23 points in regulation this season. TCU can’t say the same. Their defense was eaten up by SMU at home a few weeks ago and I think the TCU offense is going to struggle on the road on grass. It won’t be a pretty game, but I like Iowa State to grind out the win and get a cover in the process.
College Football Week 6 Prediction: Iowa State -3.5
