TCU Horned Frogs Game Notes
TCU sophomore QB Max Duggan completed 25-of-35 passes for 276 yards and a touchdown in a 33-19 loss to TCU on Saturday. Duggan (6’2/201) played turnover free football and moved the ball down the field at times, but TCU stalled out once they crossed mid-field far too often. The sophomore signal caller completed 71 percent of his passes, but the Horned Frog offense was outgained 498 total yards to 351 on the day. He wasn’t helped out by the run game, as they only posted 75 rushing yards with a paltry 3.0 YPC. Duggan himself only rushed for 18 yards, which is his second lowest yardage total of the year. TCU will look to get back on track next week when they travel to Waco to face Baylor.
Baylor Bears Game Notes
Baylor senior QB Charlie Brewer completed 30-of-43 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-16 loss to Texas on Saturday. If we’re being entirely honest, Brewer was utterly ineffective for the first three quarters, with no touchdowns and multiple dropped interceptions. But as sometimes happens, Brewer came out a different player in the fourth quarter and led two quick touchdown drives. Unfortunately, it was too-little, too-late. At times this year, we’ve wondered if Brewer was injured. Not a quarterback with a strong arm in the first place, Brewer has looked even more labored than usual trying to put air under balls downfield. But he did enough at the end of this game to hold on his job for another week. Baylor hosts archrival TCU next week.
TCU vs. Baylor Betting Prediction
The Horned Frogs are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 meetings versus the Bears and have covered four straight in Baylor. The Bears are just 5-13-1 against the spread in their last 19 games when facing an opponent with a losing record, are 1-3-1 against the number in their last five games played in the month of October and are winless at the betting window in their last four home games when facing an opponent that owns a losing road record.
