TCU Horned Frogs Game Notes
Quentin Johnston tallied four catches for 139 yards in Saturday’s 31-28 loss to Kansas State. Johnston can’t be blamed for TCU’s loss, as the star wideout went for over 100 yards for the third time this season. Johnston will head into the College Football Playoffs with 53 catches for 903 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games.
Michigan Wolverines Game Notes
J.J. McCarthy was 11-for-17 passing for 161 yards, three touchdowns and one interception during Saturday’s 43-22 win against Purdue. He also had five rushes for 14 yards. McCarthy once made enough big plays to put the Wolverines over the top, including a 25-yard passing touchdown to No. 2 tight end Colston Loveland for the team’s first score. The sophomore signal-caller also put up three touchdowns for the second game in a row. McCarthy accumulated a pedestrian 6.9 yards attempt over Michigan’s first eight conference games, though he’s now netted 10.3 yards per pass over the team’s last two contests. McCarthy will likely need to continue hitting some crucial scoring plays to secure a College Football Playoff win against TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.
