TCU Horned Frogs Game Notes
TCU sophomore QB Max Duggan completed 11-of-23 passes for 73 yards and an interception, while also rushing 19 times for 154 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in a 34-18 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. Duggan (6’2/201) had his worst passing game of the year, completing under 50 percent of his passes for the first time in addition to throwing his first interception since TCU’s opening game loss to Iowa State on September 26. Though his passing was woeful the sophomore signal caller was lethal on the ground, breaking touchdown runs of 3-yards, 48-yards and an 81-yard back-breaking jaunt late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Horned Frogs. His verified 4.5 40-yard dash speed was on full display as the Texas Tech defenders had trouble chasing down Duggan once he broke through the line. TCU heads to Morgantown to take on West Virginia next Saturday.
West Virginia Mountaineers Game Notes
West Virginia redshirt junior QB Jarret Doege completed 35-of-50 passes for 317 yards in a 17-13 loss to Texas on Saturday. Doege (6’2/198) completed 70% of his passes with no interceptions, we’ll give him that, but for just 6.3 YPA with no touchdowns. Decent accuracy numbers with an utter lack of explosion have been a staple of Doege’s game for four years now — he’s what you would consider a pass-first spread-offense game manager. Doege loves his screens and quick-hitters. But the explosive element lacking in his game caps this offense with a glass ceiling.
TCU vs. West Virginia Betting Prediction
The Horned Frogs are winless against the spread in their last four games versus the Mountaineers and are 6-13 against the number in their last 19 games versus an opponent with a winning record. TCU has also dropped six of its last eight games at the betting window after allowing less than 20 points in its previous contest. On the other side, the Mountaineers are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five home games, are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games when favored.
