Will Baylor overwhelm Texas?
The nation’s top offense takes to the field today when No. 12 Baylor hosts a struggling Texas team at Noon ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Baylor is heavily favored at home in this game, as the Bears are getting odds of -20.5 points against Texas. The over/under total for the game has been set at 67.5 points. These two meet today at Noon ET from McLane Stadium in Waco, TX. The game airs live on ESPN.
This game looks to come down to a bad Texas defense against a great Baylor offense. The Bears lead the nation in scoring (50.8 ppg) and yards (616 pg), which has led them to a 9-2 record overall and 5-5 record against the spread. Baylor takes on a Longhorn defense that is 94th in defensive scoring (31.5 ppg) and 108th in total defense (450.2 ypg). That is a big reason that Texas is 4-7 overall and 4-7 against the spread.
Baylor is down to its third string QB in Chris Johnson, which was an issue last week in a 28-21 OT loss to TCU. Johnson was just 7 of 24 passing for 62 yards with one touchdown and an interception. He also ran 15 times but had just 13 yards. Was it a fluke, or is Johnson not ready to compete at this level. He doesn’t face a team as talented as TCU this week, but he is unproven. The Bears may need RB Shock Linwood to shoulder the load. He has run for 1,298 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
