Texas 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – The 2010 college football season was one to forget for Texas, but Mack Brown has his players ready to bounce back and contend in 2011.
The Longhorns were 5-7 last season, their worst record in 13 seasons with Brown as head coach. Texas was also just 2-6 in the Big 12. This season, Brown has 13 starters back, including their starting quarterback and running back.
According to oddsmakers, Texas has 20/1 odds to win the 2012 BCS National Championship and 5/1 odds to win the Big 12 conference. Oddsmakers have placed Texas’ over/under win total at 8 games.

Despite the struggles in 2010, Texas still averaged 23.8 points and 383 yards per game on offense and allowed 23.7 points and 300 yards per game on defense. The Texas secondary allowed just 162 passing yards per contest, and both safeties return for the Longhorns in 2011. Offensively, Garrett Gilbert , a junior quarterback, will look to lead Texas back to glory. He threw for 2,744 yards in 2010, but had 17 interceptions with just 10 touchdowns passes last season. Texas has its top three rushers back from last season, including Gilbert, who rushed for 380 yards and five scores.
Texas has won four national titles. The last of which came in 2005. In terms of conference championships, Texas owns 32. Brown has never failed to win at least 9 games in a season, except for 2010. This year, Texas will face BYU and UCLA in non-conference play. Outside of the annual classic with Oklahoma, the Longhorns will host Oklahoma State in Big 12 play while heading to Missouri and Texas A&M.
Texas was 3-9 against the spread during the 2010 season. The Longhorns were just 1-6 against the spread at home. The Longhorns have had a .500 record or lower against the spread in four of the last five seasons. For the over/under, Texas went under in 8 of 12 games, including 5 of its 7 home games.
